Licence Catagories |
- A1 Light
The test is taken on a motorcycle of between 75 and
120cc. On passing, this licence allows the holder to ride a motorcycle
of up to 125cc (11kW / 14.6 bhp).

- A2
The test is taken on a machine of between 120 and 125cc
and capable of at least 100kph (62.5mph). The A2 licence restricts
the holder to riding machines of less than (25kW / 33bhp) for two
years, it then freely upgrades to Category A status.

- A
This is the full licence entitlement that allows the
holder to ride any motorcycle. It is gained after the two year wait
(see above), or may be taken via the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) by
candidates over 21 years of age. The training and testing must be
done on a machine of greater than (35kW / 46.6 bhp).
