Booking A Course
  • ABC Riding School offers competitive rates and first class training. This page will explain everything you need to know about the courses available and how to book them. Should you have any questions after reading this please do not hesitate to call us and we will be happy to help.
  • COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING
Anyone who wishes to ride a scooter or motorcycle as a learner must complete Compulsory Basic Training. The CBT course that we provide is five hours consisting of approximately three hours off-road training. This will give you an understanding of the scooter/motorcycle and how to control it as well as some knowledge of safety and equipment.

The final two hours are on-road and are closely supervised with radio contact between two learners and one instructor. At the end of this time if the instructor feels you are ready to ride on your own, you will be given your CBT Certificate. If however, you need further training this will be booked.
  • TRAINING FOR YOUR FULL LICENCE
If you wish to train further and obtain a full licence (and remove the 'L' plates from your machine) you need to take a further test in one of the three licence categories, detailed here. From 1 February 2001 anyone wishing to take a motorcycle test must hold a valid Theory Test Certificate. You will need to telephone the DSA to book this and fees will apply. Please see Useful Numbers and Links for further details.
  • DIRECT ACCESS COURSE
A pass will allow you to ride a motorcycle of any cc and is designed for candidates aged 21 or over. The five day intensive course aimed at people new to motorcycling or those returning to biking after a break. It starts with the CBT and finishes with a motorcycle test.
    Day 1 - a CBT Course taken on a 125cc machine.
Day 2 - you stay on the machine to further improve your skills.
Day 3 - you should have the necessary skills to move up to a 500cc machine.
Day 4 - you will practise the required skills for your test.
    Day 5 - Test Day

If during your course, the instructor feels you are failing to make sufficient progress you will be transferred to the A2 course enabling you to ride any machine restricted to 33bhp.

If you already have experience of riding motorcycles the course can be shortened to meet your needs. There are Direct Access Courses available over 2, 3 or 4 days according to your experience.

The costs outlined below include the CBT, bike hire, tuition, loan of equipment (if required) and practical test fee.
